NY Psychiatric Rehabilitation Training Academy is a project funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health to offer resource for professionals who recognize the impact and opportunity that psychiatric rehabilitation skills and practices has in centering each person to determine their path to recovery.
NYAPRS hired DigitalChores to create an engaging website for their new mental health initiate – The Academy. DigitalChores developed a new site from the ground up based on a powerful branding strategy. The sleek photo-filled web design on all devices shows off The Academy’s goal of delivering resources for Mental Health professionals.
The Academy didn’t have a website, and no means to distribute content to their users in a digital format. They needed an easy way to make their materials available in online formats to support their goals and vision, and to have the site be AAA compliant, the highest possible compliance.
Providing strategy, design, front and back-end development of the platform in WordPress, DigitalChores was able to capture The Academy’s needs and audiences to unlock the power of accessing resources in a timely manner.
In-depth and frequent accessibility testing kept the site AAA compliant, following best practices on contrast ratios and appropriate font sizes, while also sourcing fonts that worked well for users with visual impairments.
Accessibility testing carried through to development. All image fields provide alt-text, button sizes were checked, the content hierarchy was implemented to follow best accessibility practices, and templates were built to support the hierarchy.
By working with DigitalChores, NYAPRS was able to make their content available in accessible online formats through The Academy project. With features that include event listings, Subject matter experts profiles, 6 language translation.
The Academy is empowering people to deliver the highest quality of services with each individual guiding their own recovery. The NYAPRS team can now create complex layouts easily and publish content that’s accessible for their users.
The new site is responsive, accessible and flexible, which means that The Academy is better supported in their mission of providing resources for professionals who recognize the impact and opportunity that psychiatric rehabilitation skills and practices.
